Mentoring is a word you’re probably familiar with, especially as you’re reading this on my mentoring website.

It is widely thought that the concept of mentoring originated 3000 years ago with the character of Mentor in Homer’s Odyssey. In this Ancient Greek poem, Odysseus entrusts his young son, Telemachus, to the care of his friend, Mentor. During the time Odysseus is away, Mentor nurtures and supports the boy.

But what does it really mean?

Many people confuse mentoring with coaching. There are similarities, but they are fundamentally two different spheres.

Mentoring takes a more holistic approach, and is more relationship driven. It’s more about sharing experiences that the mentee can relate to.

Coaching follows a more structured and formal approach and is usually centred around tasks.

Here at Metis Mentoring, my mission is to support, nurture and empower women like you, to be able to take control of their creative visions and turn them into the business of their dreams. To find your inner goddess and set her free.

I want to share my experience of building a creative business and help you to break through any barriers that may be holding you back. Step by step.

One of the most common issues facing solopreneurs is the feeling of being overwhelmed. It isn’t surprising given that you are the one responsible for everything connected to your business.

Overwhelm can strike at any time, but it’s how we deal with it that is key. For a long time, my default setting when I was overwhelmed, was to stop everything and basically shut down and press the pause button. Talking to my husband was the key to moving forward and working through the feelings of overwhelm that were paralysing me.

Not everyone has the luxury of someone to talk to, especially about business. Friends and family can sometimes appear to be a little dismissive regarding mind monkeys and imposter syndrome simply because they don’t understand the complexities involved.

Yet sometimes, being able to talk about your fears and doubts, when the mind monkeys have taken over, can be all that is needed for you to clear your head. It helps to see things more clearly. To put everything into perspective.

That’s where I come in.

My mentoring programmes are specifically tailored to your unique requirements, empowering you to move forward with confidence on your creative journey.

Whether you need help organising your ideas and thoughts, social media support or website terminology explaining, I can help.

By working with me, you will be able to access the systems and methods I use in my businesses, which could enable you to get your own creativity out into the world sooner.

I can offer my experiences and help you awaken to potential opportunities but as always it is up to you whether you take them on board.
